PSN ID Change Feature Coming Soon
Enters PlayStation Preview Program soon, and will be available to all users next year
The long requested feature is finally coming to PlayStation 4. Sony announced today on the PlayStation Blog that members of the PlayStation Preview Program will soon be able to change their PlayStation IDs. The ability to change your username is expected to be rolled out to every user in early 2019.
The first name change that players do will be free of charge. However, any additional changes will cost £7.99 for regular users or £3.99 for PlayStation Plus subscribers. Changing your username is easily done, as players just have to go to the settings menu and change their profile.
Sony says that the name change feature will be compatible with all games published after April 1, 2018, and ‘’a large majority’’ of other PS4 titles. They say that not all games for PS3 or Vita will support the ID change and "users may occasionally encounter issues or errors." They didn't specify what these issues are, so what exactly the drawbacks are to changing your name remains to be seen.
Those in the PlayStation Preview Program can expect to change their PSN ID soon, while other users will have to wait until early next year.
