Upset Fans Are Review Bombing Shadow of the Tomb Raider Due to Sales

People that bought the game already aren’t happy about it being discounted so soon

While normally fans are delighted at the news of a major gaming release going on-sale, that hasn’t been the case for Shadow of the Tomb Raider. Lara Croft’s latest release only released last month, but it’s already being heavily discounted on Steam. The core game is currently 34% off the initial price, and the Croft Edition (which includes all of the upcoming downloadable content) is nearly half off at 47%.

The response online has been varied. While many are excited that they can get the new release for a cheap price, others (mostly people that already bought the game) are upset that they could have saved money if they had waited:

The most upset fans (which appear to come from Chinese players) have gone to Steam in a coordinated effort to give the game bad reviews due to the sale. Particularly vulgar messages have even said that the developers ‘’should die,’’ while more measured responses just call the move ‘’unethical’’ by publisher Square Enix.

While not as well-received critically as its predecessors, Shadow of the Tomb Raider has still found plenty of critical and commercial success so far. It’s available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
