S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 Developers Puzzle Fans with a Riddle

Fans start producing multiple theories as a mysterious image related to the sequel appears on GSC Game World’s social media

There was next to no new information on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 since its announcement last year, so we still know quite little about the game except the fact that it is likely to be in development. What fans had, however, was number 2.0.2.1 on the official website.

Everyone though that 2.0.2.1 is a release date, but it turned out to be a cipher as the developers confirmed one of the theories with a social media post. As they stated, the answer to the riddle is 35 and it has something to do with 2.0.2.1. Besides, that’s just the first part of a puzzle, so more are likely to follow:

Fans are now trying to solve the riddle and there are several reasonable guesses so far:

  • It is somehow related to the 35th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster: 2021-1986=35.

  • The developers can release the game on April 25-26, the day when the disaster took place in 1986.

  • 35 month until release, which means that the game will be released in December 2021.

There were humorous suggestions as well:

  • ‘’It will require 35 patches to be playable?’’ (Editor’s note: S.T.A.L.K.E.R. had a big number of bugs when it was released)

Some users also supposed that 5 looks like a Russian letter ‘’Б’’ which is a Cyrillic version of B, and 3 is actually a letter ‘’З’’, which is a Cyrillic version of Z.

What ‘’ЗБ’’ can possibly mean:

  • ‘’3-й Блок’’ — the 3rd block of the Chernobyl nuclear plant.

  • ‘’Закрытая Бета’’ — Closed Beta.

However, ‘’35’’ stands for a number, which makes their suggestions wrong.

Another more or less reliable fact about the game is that GSC Game World is using Unreal Engine 4 to develop the sequel as was hinted by Sergey Galyonkin, Director of Publishing Strategy at Epic Games.

Given the fact that another post-apocalyptic game, Metro Exodus, became an Epic Games Store temporary exclusive, we can suggest that this may also happen to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2. But that’s just a guess.

Share your thoughts on number 35 in the comments below while waiting for another piece of the puzzle.
