Assassin's Creed Odyssey
Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Full Walkthrough: Paradise Lost
Odyssey’s protagonist must help his mother to protect Naxos island from the invaders that come from Paros
Death and Disorder
Being the leader of Naxos, Myrrine often puts herself in danger. It happened this time as well – Aspasia, who was also onboard Adrestia, has warned the protagonist’s mother that cultists are hunting for her. Alexios/Kassandra must find evidence that supports the theory that alleged killers are related to the sinister sect.
The criminals are hiding in a cave on Mount Zas that is located to the south from Naxos and to the north from Zeus bay (see the map above). The entrance to the cultists’ lair is located above a small lagoon so you’ll have to wet your feet. Once inside, follow the ‘’corridor’’ until you get to a narrow hall with four enemies – three ordinary ones and one elite soldier.
Wait until one of the guards breaks away from the group and gets out of the fellows’ sight and kill him. This will provoke a chain reaction: two other soldiers will start patrolling the room which will allow you to eliminate them without any noise. You’ll be able to finish the captain with your surprise attack.
When all enemies in the cave are dead, take the treasure from the chest on the left side and climb up the stairs to squeeze into the next room. Here, you’ll face armored cultists – these are the very same killers of whom Aspasia warned Myrrine.
There are several options to deal with the enemies: if your Rush Assassination skill has already reached the second level, you’ll be able to jump from one victim to another and then back. This will allow you to deal maximal damage without getting hurt yourself.
The alternative option is to stay above and shoot the opponent with your bow. If you have accumulated a sufficient amount of adrenaline during the showdown in the previous room, it would be wise to use the Devastating Shot ability or any other skill that increases damage for long-ranged attacks.
Having defeated both enemies, search their corpses to find the necessary evidence – the leader of Paros pays the killers. Before you go back to Myrrine and Aspasia, inspect the hall – you can find an ostracon under the statue’s feet, and a chest with the legendary bow inside behind the statue.
There is no alternative way out of the cave, so run to the surface using the familiar route. Using the documents provided by the hero, Aspasia will conclude that one of the Spartan kings rather than Silanos paid for Myrrine’s murder.
However, the heroes will have to worry about this after they have returned to their homeland, and for now this mission comes to an end. At the end of the conversation, you’ll get a rare breastplate and couple hundred drachmas, as well as the confirmation that Silanos belongs to the Kosmos Cult.
Having dealt with the killers, go to Paros. If you have visited the synchronization point on the way to Naxos, you can simply teleport to the island. In the other case, you will have to use Adrestia to get there. Your task is to find Euneas, Myrrine’s admiral.
Having arrived in Paros, move to the north-east (see the map above). There, on the beach, you will find the wreckage of Euneas ship together with one surviving crew member – wounded, he will lie in the ship’s wreck. From the conversation with the soldier, you will learn that the team led by Euneas was seized and taken to a nearby quarry.
Move to the west from the shipwreck to a tall mountain that ‘’contains’’ the quarry. You do not need to clear the whole location to free Euneas – however, we will still do it for other reasons which will become clear in the next mission – so we need to act stealthily.
Once you are close, call Ikaros and mark all enemies and important objects – army supplies, a treasury chest, dozens of Athenian soldiers – and, most importantly, a cage with Euneas that is located on the upper tier of the quarry and has the smallest number of guards in this location.
Climb the rock and jump to the tier where Euneas is held. Eliminate enemies who stand at a distance from each other one by one. After that, release the admiral and take him to freedom using the same way you came here, ‘’removing’’ the guards if necessary with your bow.
Having moved far away from the enemy ‘’fortress’’, talk to Euneas. According to him, strange things with the participation of strangers in stone masks are happening in Paros. At the end of the conversation, admiral will return to Naxos without your help, while you will get a rare axe and some money.
Do not move far from the quarry after you have freed Euneas. You will need to return to the enemy camp to fulfill the third task given by Myrrine – to weaken Paros’ ruler. At the beginning of the quest, his power over the region will already be weak, and you will need to make the final push so that the whole construction collapses.
Get back to the quarry – use the same way as before, climbing the rock. Once on the upper tier, destroy one of the enemy supply packs, having taken some of them with yourself. To destroy the resources, you need to hit the boxes with a torch.
Then, use your bow and the Devastating Shot skill to eliminate the guards that are located around the perimeter of the quarry. We remind you that every killed Athenian soldier weakens the grip of this faction around the selected region.
Go downstairs at the northern side of the location – there are fewer enemies there. Stealthily kill two guards and sneak along the wall to the room that is hidden from sunlight – you’ll find another pack of supplies and a treasure chest there.
At a tier below, you’ll find a chest with the treasury, so we are going right there. Having descended, move along the wall and burn the third pack of resources, then kill the guards on the way to your target. Having looted the chest, you’ll undermine Silanos’ authority by as much as 150 points.
If you have killed a sufficient number of Athenian soldiers by now, the reputation of the local leader will fall to a level at which the quest will be completed. In the other case, you’ll have to clear the quarry – at this stage, enemies should remain only on the ground level so use your bow.
For the completion of this mission, you’ll get a rare sword.
The Paros Blockade
After completing all three tasks, return to Myrrine and discuss further plans with her. You will have to postpone the realization of your plans as Paros’ ships have organized a blockade that prevents Naxos’ forces from advancing on Silanos. Alexios/Kassandra will promise to break through enemy ranks.
Get on board Adrestia – do not forget that if you wish, you can instantly teleport on the ship (unless the hero is on the guarded territory) – and sail towards Paros’ ships. There are three of them, but do not act recklessly – your trireme might be sunk very fast at short distances.
In the battle, try to keep all opponents on one side, so that while Adrestia is shooting at one ship, the two others are unable to counterattack from the other side – this tactic will save you a lot of nerves. Do not forget that during boarding enemy triremes ‘’take a break’’ and do not attack your ship.
Also, do not try to sink all three enemies simultaneously – unlike the player, they have just one target. Choose the weakest boat and focus on it. Start the attack with a powerful ram – move at full speed and switch to rowers only in the immediate vicinity of the enemy.
If you haven’t done this already, upgrade braziers on Adrestia – they will allow you to shoot with fire arrows and/or spears from time to time. If you have lieutenants who increase damage, the effectiveness of such attacks will be higher than usual.
Return to Myrrine after you have destroyed all three Athenian triremes. She will talk about a future trip to Sparta – it’s high time to clean up the motherland and get rid of the cultist king – but first she needs to deal with Paros’ forces and Silanos in particular. At the end of the mission, you will get a rare sword.
When you are ready – you do not need to rush into the final battle with Silanos immediately after the completion of the previous mission – return to Adrestia and head towards Paros’ ships. This time, there’ll be four opponents, but one Spartan trireme will be your ally in this battle.
As in the previous mission, do not spray damage between enemies – i.e. try to deal damage to one ship at a time – and do not expose the unprotected sides of your ship to Athenians or you risk sudden defeat. Also, do not try to immediately sink Silanos’ ship – start with smaller ‘’fish’’.
If you see that the enemy ship is rushing to Adrestia and you cannot escape from the upcoming hit, use the ‘’handbrake’’ (S button on the keyboard and B/O on gamepads) that sends the ship to a controlled drift. In extreme cases, sail away – in the ‘’calm’’ state, the strength of the hull is automatically restored.
When you destroy Athenian ships (or any other ships except for the pirate ones), the reward for your head is raised, so be prepared to open your wallet (to pay off bounty hunters) or face aggressive mercenaries at the end of the battle.
Having immobilized the Silanos’ trireme, board her and enter the fight with the cultist. Ideally, you need to first kill ordinary sailors so that your allies help you in the battle against the sectarian, but in practice this could be problematic. By the way, your lieutenants can kill Silanos on their own if you are lucky.
In the battle, use dodging and parrying, and do not forget about the other enemies on the deck – they can materially annoy you. Also, if you succeed in throwing the enemy into the water – even if it is Silanos himself – the player will automatically claim the victory.
After the battle is finished, return to Naxos and talk to Myrrine. Now that Paros is not threatening the island, it’s high time to visit Lakonia (another name for Sparta – author). Before that, main character’s mother will advise him to find his real father – a separate storyline will be devoted to this.
We recommend increasing the level of your character before going back to Alexios/Kassandra’s homeland – the next mission will be five levels higher than your hero. So, do not go to Lakonia until your hero reaches the 30th level, or you will face major problems.
