Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Side Quests Walkthrough: Arkadia
Detailed instruction on how to undermine Lagos’ authority and save his family in the Greek region occupied by the Cult
In this article, we will analyze secondary tasks that can be found on the territory of Arkadia region in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. Quests are listed in order of their appearance and importance.
White Lies and Blackmail
- Given by: Brasidas
- Reward: experience points, rare breastplate
After the completion of the storyline mission To Kill or Not to Kill, we strongly advise completing this task and the following one before you go to archon so that you will have an opportunity to decide Lagos’ fate by nonviolent means. In the other case, you will not have such an opportunity.
Brasidas wants to know the truth: why such a great citizen like Lagos suddenly got in touch with the cultists. To get closer to the solution of this puzzle, go to archon’s shelter to the north-west of Tegea. In an unremarkable house, your Spartan ally will be waiting for you.
Ask Brasidas about his goals and the purpose of the shelter, and then overhear the conversation between a peasant and a cultist that are talking in the nearby. They are discussing a letter from Lagos, that needs to be taken to a burnt tree near the Golden Fields. We’ll also go there.
Move straight to the north from the archon’s shelter until you reach the above-mentioned tree. Next to the tree, you’ll find a bound prisoner whom you should release for ‘’inquiry’’. The sectarian camp consists of two parts, so there will be no more than two guards near the place of the woman’s imprisonment.
Get rid of the guards quickly and (preferably) stealthily, and then release the prisoner – if you do not do this quickly enough, another guard may come to the tree. From the conversation with an ex-prisoner, you’ll learn that she was taken underground and kept under guard together with Lagos’ family.
To the east from the burnt tree, you’ll find a small estate where several bored cultists spend their day. However, it is not necessary to visit them – just move to the quest indicator (the route through the forest is a better choice than going by the road), which will lead you to a descent to the sectarian cave.
Just go down the vertical stairs to complete the mission and get the rare breastplate. In fact, you can even jump into the abyss: there’s water below, and you do not incur damage from falling starting from level 20. The search for Lagos’ family will continue in the next quest.
- Given by: starts automatically after the completion of the previous quest White Lies and Blackmail
- Reward: experience points, rare belt
So, you are in the cultists’ lair in Arkadia, searching for the missing members of Lagos’ family. The cave is quite linear, so it will be hard to get lost. Move forward in a slow manner – it is dark in this location, but it is better not to use the torch because enemies are ahead.
The first sectarian stands on the way down to the small stream – sneak up on him from the back or kill him with a shot to the head. Three more opponents are walking in the nearby, so stay alert and try to eliminate everyone quietly in order to not disturb his colleagues.
When all enemies are dead, go to the far end of the cave – here, Lagos’ wife and son are kept in cages. Having released them, talk to the woman and the boy to learn about archon’s new ‘’friends’’. The mission will complete at the end of the conversation, and you will facilitate the walkthrough of the main storyline.
Fourth Degree Burns
- Given by: Myrrine
- Reward: experience points, rare axe
Even if you did not support Myrrine’s plan to attack Lagos during the meeting on the cliff near Tegea, this quest and the following one will still appear on the in-game map. Moreover, the completion of the line with the weakening of archon does not interfere with helping his family.
One of the main sources of Lagos’ wealth are barns full of grain. These barns can be found in the north-west of the region Pan’s Cradle at the junction with the mountain. You need to set three barns on fire, which could be done from afar.
You need to aim at a small wooden ‘’window’’ in the upper or lower part of the building. One successful shot with a fire arrow, and the barn will be set on fire in a matter of seconds. To create the appropriate ammo, you need the skill Arrow Master.
The alternative and significantly less effective option implies the use of torches. They can be thrown (but not far) or waived (at a small radius), but these tactics will surely attract more attention than the long-ranged attack, so we advise to have enough arrows with you in this mission.
- Given by: Myrrine
- Reward: experience points, rare boots
Besides the grains, the archon has legions of soldiers. Myrrine will advise you to shrink the ranks of Lagos’ army. To do this, you will have to clear three locations from the enemies. Each one is more complicated, more secure and more crowded than the previous one. We advise you to start the quest by dealing with the simplest location – Tegea’s barracks inside the settlement.
The barracks are a small building with few guards standing along the perimeter. The Rush Assassination skill will be the most useful in this case, because the guards stand not far from each other and you’ll be able to link their killings in chains.
Your next target is the military camp Kepheus that is located to the south-east of Tegea. The area of this location is not much bigger than the barracks, but enemies here are standing so close to each other that it will be hard to avoid an open battle.
Try to eliminate at least a couple of soldiers in a stealth mode – by shooting them from a bow or by using the Rush Assassination skill – and then engage in an open fight. Due to the reward assigned for your head in this chapter, beware of mercenaries who might accidentally come into the camp.
The last location that you should clear is the Arkas Fort that is located to the east of Tegea, on the border with Argolis. There are more enemies here than in the two previous locations combined, so be careful when assaulting the fort. You do not want the scenario when the whole garrison plus reinforcements are against you in one point of time.
Move along the fortress walls, eliminating lone watchmen and patrolmen on your way. The polemarch is on duty near one of the treasure chests in the northern part, so we advise you to clear the nearby area before you fight against this enemy in order to avoid attracting reinforcements with the noise.
If you wish, you can set up a trap on the warning torch in the fortress (at a distance on the screenshot above) so that no one comes to help Spartans in the case of alarm. You can make chain killings to eliminate the enemies that remain in the center of the fort, and then manually deal with survivors.
When the last enemy in the third of the marked locations falls, the game will find the task completed, and you’ll be able to go on the Lagos’ fort assault.
To be continued…
