A four-player coop-shoter in which you fight against hordes of aliens in order to protect Earth
Earthfall is a 4-man coop shooter with survival horror elements and a general cooperative objective vibe, where the kills don’t matter – it’s all about surviving through all the objectives. Does it sound familiar? It should. In spite of being made by a completely unaffiliated studio, Earthfall appears to be a shot-for-shot tribute of Left4Dead 1 and 2 – a sort of a spiritual successor if you will.
The online gaming community seems to have embraced this parallel with open arms. Instead of lambasting Holospark for the similarities, people seem to be glad to be getting any kind of sequel to Left4Dead 2, even if it is in the form of an entirely different game. Many have compared the game to other, more recent coop games such as Evolve, but the Left4Dead parallel is unavoidable. There are cooperative objectives such as repairing vehicles or clearing paths so the whole team can proceed, and all the while there are monstrous baddies that need to be mowed down on your way to freedom.
The baddies themselves are thankfully not zombies, rather, a refreshing twist on the formula – they are alien invaders instead. Earth has been all but conquered by a devastating alien invasion force, and humanity is in shambles. The four playable survivors must muster the best effort they can to save themselves, and perhaps, the world.
