What skill points mean and how to get them
S.P.E.C.I.A.L. skill system in Fallout Shelter won’t confuse you if you have already played the Fallout series games. Developers removed abilities and simplified the game process, but we will have to clarify certain nuances. For instance, we’ll discuss how skill points are used in the Shelter and in the Wasteland and we’ll show how to upgrade skills.
The higher the Strength level of generator and reactor workers, the faster you’ll get energy. Good strength decreases the risk of accidents when you accelerate production in these facilities.
Strong scouts deal more damage and can open locked containers with loot. This parameter does not influence combats inside the Shelter. Strength minimally increases the probability of getting items or trash for mission completion.
Strength is upgraded in the Weight room, which is available once the population of your Shelter reaches 24 people.
Increases water production speed at water treatment stations and water purification rooms. Decreases the number of accidents during production acceleration.
Materially, it increases the chances of getting items for mission completions. When Perception is high, you can deal critical damage. It also increases the probability of finding interesting objects.
Perception is upgraded in the Weapon workshop, which is available when the Shelter population reaches 28 people.
Endurance is useful for Nuca-Cola bottler personnel as it increases production and decreases the risk of accidents. Also, endurance increases maximum health points of settlers. After the 50th level is reached, Endurance has no effect on HP.
High Endurance decreases scouts’ radiation damage. When endurance gets to 11, a settler stops getting radiation in the Wasteland and he’ll need RadAway solely during quests. Also, Endurance increases the probability of finding items or trash.
Endurance is upgraded in the Fitness room, which is available when the population reaches 35 people.
High Charisma workers are useful for Radio station work. They increase the happiness of Shelter inhabitants and are effective in attracting new settlers.
Also, Charisma decreases the time needed to build a pair in the living quarters and the time needed to construct a new appearance in the barbershop.
Charisma allows to solve some problems without using force. If a charismatic scout meets a cheapjack in the Wasteland, he can exchange items with him.
Charisma is upgraded in the Lounge, which is available after the population of the Shelter reaches 40 people.
If doctors in Medbays and scientists in Science labs have a high level of intellect, they make stimpacks and RadAways faster. Also, high level of Intellect decreases the risk of accidents during production acceleration.
Intellect is necessary to provide first-aid to injured. It also has some positive effect on the probability of getting items and trash during quests.
Intellect is upgraded in the Classroom, which is available after the population of the Shelter reaches 30 people.
Agile workers prepare food in the Diner and harvest crops in the Garden faster. Agility decreases the risk of accidents during production acceleration.
Agility decreases the time between attacks and increases the probability of getting items and trash during quests.
Agility is upgraded in the Athletics room, which is available after the Shelter reaches the population of 26 people.
Luck increases the probability of getting caps during resource gathering and decreases the risk of accidents during production acceleration in any room.
Luck allows to make more critical attacks.
Luck is upgraded in the Game room, which is available after the population of the Shelter reaches 45 people.
- Each skill can be increased immediately if you find an appropriate armor or give shelter to a pet with a necessary bonus. Some types of clothes increase several skills at once.
- If you choose parents wisely, you’ll get a skilled child. For example, if both parents have a high Strength skill, the child will also be strong. If parents have various high-level skills, the child will randomly get one of them. Find pets with bonuses to child skills as such pets boost all seven skills.
- Training progress does not get lost when citizens are moved from one room to another. You can restart upgrade at any time.
- Training time is decreased due to high happiness level and high level of training facilities.
- High skills allow settlers to endure accidents with less damage.
