Marvel’s Spider-Man Side Missions Walkthrough: Snipe Hunt
Spider-Man decides to help New York police officers with stopping a couple of contract killings and saving the hostages
- Starting location: Financial District
- Available: Complete the Uninvited Main Mission
- Rewards: 3,000 XP
As soon as you save MJ from the Sable compound, you’ll find a group of police officers behind the Municipal Building Landmark who have arrested a Demon. This sniper was tracking the Mayoral Chief of Staff, and he has certainly planned something more than just tracking him.
Rush to the Courthouse–another sniper is going to kill the innocent citizen. If you get spotted, the sniper will shoot, and the mission will be over. So stealth (or at least stealth takedown) is the only way for you to complete this part of a mission.
Swing above the shooter and use a Web Throw (”triangle” button) while you’re still in the air to take out the enemy from behind. Then a police officer will inform you of three more thugs with rifles.
You’ll have only two and a half minutes to save the citizens. First head for the south since it’s the nearest location. You’ll spot one sniper atop the skyscraper. You need to be fast, so don’t use stealth and just take out the shooter with a Web Throw from a distance.
The second point is located to the west from the first one. It’s overlooking the marina. Again, you can use a Web Throw while swinging above the Demon. If you have some target detection problems, use the minimap or press R3 to activate the targeting mode.
The third sniper is on a rooftop of a building in the northwest part of the Financial District. He’s surrounded by the group of three shooters with assault rifles. Pick the highest position so that you can defeat the sniper and then start a fight with that group.
Fortunately, the timer will stop when you start fighting, so take your time. However, we recommend you to use the gadgets to complete the mission sooner. You can use a Web Bomb or Electric Web to freeze several thugs at once.
After defeating them, Spider-Man will speak to a police officer who will tell you the bad news: according to the arrested Demon, the thugs have taken hostages at Battery Park and are threatening to kill them. Spider-Man will ask a police officer to buy some time for himself and will go there to save the people.
Four thugs are guarding the hostages who have been gathered in the center of a small round arena. On the upper level you’ll find three snipers, with three more thugs patrolling. They can be taken out by using a series of Web Throws. But instead of acting like that, we recommend you to use more rational tactics.
Turn on the special Suit Mods to become as sneaky as possible. If the snipers spot you, the hostages will be killed, and you’ll return to the nearest starting location. Try to remain invisible as long as you can.
When Spider-Man is ready to fight, wait for the patrolling man to walk away from the other thug. Destroy the first sniper and then the next one. You can also use the poles around the park to knockout the Demons from above.
Proceed to move around the arena’s perimeter. If you have a Perch Takedown skill, zip to the flagpole and destroy the enemy while his assistant is not watching. Then defeat the second sniper. Another option is to take out the sniper after beating up the patrolling man.
You’ll find two more Demons under the entrance to the arena. Since one of the thugs is focused on the police officers who have surrounded the area, he is easy to be defeated. But we recommend you to kill the other sniper first.
The rest of the Demons form four distinct groups: one sniper is keeping watch over the hostages, two are talking to each other, and the other is looking at them from a distance. You should definitely start with the latter. Zip him up to the flagpole from your location or climb down.
As for those two snipers, it’s really hard to defeat them both at once, so hit a nearby trash can to distract them. Web up one thug and sneak up behind the second one. Don’t use a Web Throw if you don’t want the last sniper to spot you.
He’ll be standing there facing the hostages and not looking around as long as you’re sneaky. You’ll save the poor citizens and complete the mission just using one accurate Web Throw.
